Our main objectives in pulmonary research are improved
treatments for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
(COPD) and asthma and the defence of lead in the
bronchodilator field.
HIV
and AIDS
In 2003, research in Laval was redefined and focused
on diseases caused by hepatitis C virus (HCV)
and human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1).
Central
Nervous System Diseases
Located in Biberach, our research in this field
focuses on novel therapies for chronic pain and
migraine, as well as disease-modifying treatment
concepts for neurodegenerative disorders.
Cardiovascular
Diseases
Ridgefield focuses on creative approaches to identify
novel and effective therapeutics for coronary heart
diseases, heart failure and hypertension.
Oncology
Our research is concentrated in Vienna, where
major new oncology programmes aimed at small-molecule
drugs are in progress.
Metabolic
Diseases
In 2003, we further increased our research capacities
in Biberach for these diseases, to which adipositas,
diabetes mellitus type 2 and dyslipidemia belong.
